Synopsis
Jaxon
One tragic accident was all it took to turn my life upside down. Now the ranch I once loved feels like a reminder of everything I lost, and keeping people at a distance is the only thing that still makes sense.
Craving a distraction, I create an online identity where I can seek pleasure without the complication of feelings. No expectations. No risk. Until I meet Callie Cooper. At first, she’s just another anonymous subscriber, but she quickly becomes the one connection I can’t walk away from.
Callie is the only one who lifts the darkness, even if keeping her means breaking every rule I set for myself the day my life fell apart.
Callie
Fight or flight has been my default setting for as long as I can remember. So when my online crush becomes all too real, I do what I do best. I run.
Jaxon Hayes hides his damage behind piercing green eyes and a playful grin, and I bury mine beneath a layer of distrust and humility.
Our jagged edges don’t fit, but he keeps reaching for me anyway, and I’m starting to wonder what it would feel like to reach back.
My Thoughts
Willa Kay is really making my cowboy era grow even stronger with her latest book, Beautiful Surrender. This book is number 2 in the Whispering Oaks Ranch series. While Characters from the past book do appear in this book, you don’t need to read the first book in order to read this one.
Please make note before you read this book that there is PTSD, talk of child abuse (past but is still on the page), murder, and homelessness. If any of these are triggering, please do not read this book. These things are not triggering to me, and I even had to take a few moments here and there to regroup. To me, that shows the writing that Willa Kay does is so good that it really does come off the page, and you are able to feel the emotion.
Beautiful Surrender gave me a book boyfriend I didn’t know I needed yet… a nerdy cowboy. That is right, you heard me right. This cowboy loves his numbers and spreadsheets, and I have to say I loved it. And he also knows his way around some talk that will make your jaw drop in a good way. He is also a great person that our female needed. He is there wanting to pick her up and put her back together, even though he is also broken. As I said, Callie is also broken and has a past that really gave her some sharp edges. I think since they both have sharp edges and are broken, they are broken just right to fit together perfectly. They really do try to help each other through the past that haunts them, and with each other, the past doesn’t haunt them as much as it used to.
Now, if you want to be in your cowboy era with a good book, Beautiful Surrender is that book for you, and it is out now. And good news if you are a Kindle Unlimited member, because this book is included in your membership.
I would like to thank Willa Kay for the ARC Copy of this book.Getting the ARC Copy did not influence my thoughts on the book as they are all my own.
